Tottenham news: Arne Slot's Spurs starting XI with Daniel Levy transfers as manager handed test

Your Tottenham morning digest on Thursday, May 18.

Slot's Tottenham XI

Arne Slot is the new favourite to become the next Spurs manager after working his way through the league in Holland with AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord.

He would have a big task at hand in north London, however, with plenty to do in order to make Spurs a top four fighting team once more next season.

"I think he's ready," former keeper Michel Vorm told football.london when asked about Slot. "He showed that, because I know the Dutch league well and what he's done before, and I speak with a lot of players in Holland, and over the years at AZ and now at Feyenoord how positive they are about him and the style of play, how he communicates and treats all the players and they have done so well."

Paratici transfer test

For the next Tottenham manager, perhaps the biggest test will be overcoming and overhauling the wedded system that this team have become so accustomed to.

Antonio Conte purchased players with the sole intention of featuring them in a 3-4-3 formation but the same set-up may well not be ideal for the next coach.

With wing-backs a plenty and midfielders suited to a double pivot, there is plenty of mess left behind by Conte and Fabio Paratici for the incumbent head coach to rectify.

Levy's 'firm no'

Daniel Levy has been told that Luciano Spalletti will not be the next Tottenham manager, according to reports. The Napoli title winner has been looked at by several top clubs after his impressive season in Italy.

Spurs are still looking to appoint their replacement for Conte after he was sacked over six weeks ago with Julian Nagelsmann now out of the running.

Slot is still in the mix but Spalletti had emerged as an outside option after his work in reforming Napoli into runaway champions.
