Tottenham new stadium: Spurs deny Richard Keys' claim that new ground to be named 'The Nike Stadium'

Tottenham have refuted Richard Keys‘ claim that the club’s new ground will be named ‘The Nike Stadium’.

Spurs are touted to make their long-awaited move to the new stadium on April 7 against Brighton, but Keys claims over the sponsorship deal were flatly denied by the club.

Speaking on beIN Sports on Friday, Keys said:

“I believe I am right in saying the first league game will be played April 6th, Brighton the opposition,” Keys said.

“And that stadium I can exclusively reveal will be called ‘The Nike Stadium’.”

Spurs are now entering the process of holding test events at the ground in order to get safety certificates from Haringey Council.

One such test event could be the upcoming U18 fixture against Southampton, which has been rescheduled, while traffic restrictions have been put in place on March 16.
