Tottenham new boy Giovani Lo Celso plays down injury after suffering groin damage in Argentina friendly

Tottenham new boy Giovani Lo Celso suffered a groin injury on international duty on Thursday – but insisted it is nothing to worry about.

The playmaker was replaced after 53 minutes of Argentina's 0-0 friendly draw in Chile following a robust challenge and the Albiceleste's official Twitter account confirmed he had damaged his left groin.

Spurs have been without their two other summer signings, Tanguy Ndombele (thigh) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) for the last two matches, and an injury to Lo Celso would add to manager Mauricio Pochettino's frustrations.

But the 23-year-old, who is yet to start a game since joining on loan from Real Betis, insisted afterwards that his knock was not a cause for concern, saying: "We deserved a bit more. We had a lot of chances to convert but it wasn't to be. My problem was only a blow, it is not something to worry about."

Spurs should welcome back Ndombele, Sessegnon, Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth after the international break.

Pochettino's side host in-form Crystal Palace a week on Saturday before beginning their Champions League campaign in Athens against Olympiakos.
