Tottenham most likely Champions League round of 16 opponents revealed amid PSG and Inter threat

Tottenham secured their place in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 after qualifying as Group D winners.

Antonio Conte watched from the stands in Marseille as his side claimed a dramatic comeback win against the Ligue 1 outfit with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scoring the winner with the last kick of the game. Chancel Mbemba had opened the scoring for the hosts on the stroke of half-time with a powerful header past Hugo Lloris.

Barcelona loanee Clement Lenglet equalised for the Lilywhites in the second half with a header of his own from a brilliant Ivan Perisic free-kick. Son Heung-min's injury threatened Spurs' chances of winning the game, but Harry Kane was able to play through Hojbjerg to fire the ball past Pau Lopez in injury time to send Tottenham into the last 16.

Despite finishing top of Group D, Spurs still face a difficult draw in the knockout rounds of the Champions League. A user on Reddit has posted a table showing the likelihood of Tottenham drawing each of their possible opponents in the round of 16.

The Lilywhites can face either Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Inter, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Club Brugge. Spurs cannot face Liverpool, who finished second in their group, due to both teams being from England.

The table shows all of the teams involved in the Champions League round of 16 and there percentage chance of playing each opposition team. Since Spurs topped Group D, they are unable to play either Liverpool and Frankfurt, with the latter finishing runners-up in Group D after beating Sporting on the final matchday.

The Lilywhites most likely round of 16 opponent is Inter with Conte's team having an 18.89% chance of drawing the Italian's former side. Meanwhile, Spurs have an 18.14% chance of drawing Borussia Dortmund and facing English super-talent Jude Bellingham.

The threat of Paris Saint-Germain could see Tottenham draw one of the toughest round of 16 ties available, although the Ligue 1 side are the joint-least likely team that they can come up against. Spurs have a 13.88% chance of drawing PSG and facing Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

The most favourable draw available to Tottenham would be to draw Club Brugge, but the Lilywhites only have a 13.88% chance of coming up against the Belgian outfit. As for AC Milan and RB Leipzig, Spurs have a 17.8% chance of facing Stefano Pioli's side and a 17.41% chance of coming up against Leipzig.
