Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Sunday, 23 August.
Wilson would provide fierce competition – Bent
Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent believes Callum Wilson would provide Harry Kane with some fierce competition should he join the club from Bournemouth.
Spurs are reportedly in the market for a back-up striker to Kane, and the Englandi international has been spoken of as a potential addition.
Bent told Football Insider: “If Harry Kane’s fit, Harry Kane plays, but we’ve seen Harry Kane get injured every single season for the last couple of years and they’ve never really had anyone come in and be an adequate backup.
“You’ve had people kind of carry the load, Son stepped up a bit and scored goals but I think if you’ve got another genuine number nine who can come in and score goals, you never know, if Harry Kane gets injured and Wilson goes and starts smashing the goals in, we’ve got a fight on our hands.”
Sangare could be natural fit for Mourinho
Football.London have taken a look at Toulouse midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, who Tottenham are interested in, according to French journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter. The 22-year-old Ivorian would likely cost between £15-20million.
The report explain how Sangare looks like a natural fit as one of the two defence-shielding midfielders in manager Jose Mourinho’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, while he could comfortably operate as the anchor in a 4-3-3 too.
Despite Toulouse finishing bottom of Ligue 1’s curtailed 2019/2020 season, Sangare posted some impressive numbers as he was regularly tasked with trying to recover possession for his side.

And although Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has already joined Spurs this summer, Mourinho might be interested in further midfield reinforcements.
Hojbjerg’s impressive debut
New signing Hojbjerg caught the eye when he made his debut in his team’s comfortable 3-0 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.
Seen as the man to solve Spurs’ issues in terms of the holding role in midfield, he partnered Harry Winks in the centre of the park.
But it was Winks who constantly sat deep, which allowed Dane Hojbjerg, who joined from Southampton, to roam forward to help out the likes of Dele Alli and co. in attack.
