Tottenham morning headlines as transfer strategy is revealed, confirmed team news vs Man United

Here are the Tottenham morning headlines for Friday, June 19.

Spurs searching for cut-price targets

Tottenham Hotspur are set to target players this summer who are entering into the final year of their contracts, report football.london .

Due to the economic situation at the club caused by the Coronavirus crisis, Spurs will not be spending big this summer and will instead look to pursue players who could be available for cut-price fees.

Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik are both on Tottenham's shortlist, alongside West Bromwich Albion’s highly-rated defender Nathan Ferguson.

"Would I expect us not to do anything and to stay exactly with the same squad that we have in this moment? My answer is no," Spurs boss Jose Mourinho said at his press conference this week.

Tottenham will attempt to sell Aurier

Tottenham have decided to cash-in on full-back Serge Aurier this summer.

That is according The Times which claims the 27-year-old is one of the players who could be moved on by the club once the 2019/20 campaign is concluded.

It is perhaps a surprising development as the Ivorian is the only specialist right-back in the squad with Kyle Walker-Peters loaned out to Southampton until the end of the campaign.

The report states Mourinho does not consider Aurier or Walker-Peters as long-term options and could instead move for Paris-Saint Germain’s Thomas Meunier or Timothy Castagne of Atalanta.

The Spurs stars set to feature against United

Tottenham are back in action tonight for the first time in over three months with a highly-anticipated Premier League clash against Manchester United.

Much has been talked about over which players Mourinho will field with the hosts, with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Moussa Sissoko all back to full fitness.

Each of the trio is likely to start in the clash but there are a few absentees, including the suspended Dele Alli.

Defenders Japhet Tangana and Juan Foyth are both unavailable through injury with Jan Vertonghen’s selection uncertain as his contract is set to expire in less than two weeks.

Furthermore, Giovani Lo Celso may miss out on a starting spot due to a niggling injury and is likely to be a substitute for the game.
