Tottenham morning headlines as third Real Madrid transfer ruled out, squad for Burnley clash

Here are your Tottenham morning headlines for Monday 26 October.

Spurs squad for Burnley clash revealed

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is expected to be without Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga for tonight’s trip to Burnley.

Dier is continuing his recovery from a hamstring problem while Tanganga is out with a thigh injury. Mourinho should, however, be able to call upon Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela after the Argentine duo played in the Europa League win over LASK Linz on Thursday.

Spurs can move up to fifth in the table if they take three points away from Turf Moor.

Full Tottenham squad available:

Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris, Joe Hart, Paulo Gazzaniga

Defenders: Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier, Ben Davies, Dennis Cirkin, Joe Rodon

Midfielders: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Dele Alli, Harry Winks, Erik Lamela, Moussa Sissoko, Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Jack Clarke, Gedson Fernandes

Forwards: Harry Kane, Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Gareth Bale, Carlos Vinicius, Son Heung-min

Mourinho promises more from Vinicius

Talk of Bale’s relationship with Zidane ‘overblown’

Speculation over Gareth Bale’s relationship with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane was ‘overblown’.

That is the opinion of Marca journalist Euan McTear, who spoke to football.london about the deterioration of Bale’s reputation at Madrid.

"I think it has been a little bit overblown his relationship with Zidane," said Marca journalist McTear . "Either time one has talked about that relationship they’ve had good things to say.

"It has been Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, who has been the one to criticise Zidane and a lot of the time I don’t think it’s necessarily repeating what he's heard from Bale.

"I think he’s a kind of person who goes off on his own and gives his own verdict whether or not that’s shared by Bale.

"The differences are that they are very different kinds of people. Both superstars, both at Real Madrid, both have scored Champions League wonder goals and things like that. Similar in some senses but very different kinds of people off the pitch.

"Zidane loves football. You hear him talking about it and the other day he said he watched so many of the matches during the international break. Bale basically has admitted that he doesn’t really watch football apart from when he is playing it.

I’m too old to follow Bale back to Spurs - Modric

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has said he is ‘too old’ to follow Bale back to Tottenham.

Modric, who left Spurs for the Spanish giants in 2012, has only eight months remaining on his contract with the La Liga champions.

However, the Croatian was quick to rule out the prospect of following Bale back to north London.

“I'm too old to go back to Tottenham,” Modric told FourFourTwo . “I still have a year left in Madrid and then we'll see what happens.

“I feel good and I want to continue playing football for a few more years. I am focused on Madrid and the things we can achieve this season.

“Afterwards I will sit down to talk to the management, and we will look for a suitable solution for everyone. I have forged a good relationship with all the people of the club and no matter what happens there will be no problem.”
