Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Sunday, 6 September.
Senegal striker linked to Spurs
Tottenham are interested in Senegal international Habib Diallo, who plays for French club Metz.
Football.london understands that Jose Mourinho’s men are monitoring the 6ft 1in forward, who scored 12 goals in 26 Ligue 1 starts for a struggling Metz team last season.
It is believed that Diallo, 25, would fit in with the strong character profile of transfers this summer, having captained Metz for a number of games during the 2019/2020 campaign.
Spurs are keen to sign a back-up to Harry Kane, who has had fitness issues in recent seasons.
Watford star on Tottenham’s radar
Tottenham may have already signed a midfielder in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, but they are also considering a £13million for Watford man Will Hughes, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.
However, Spurs would need to move on the likes of Juan Foyth, Serge Aurier and Danny Rose in order to raise funds for Hughes.
The former Derby County man is seen as a strong option for Jose Mourinho’s squad, especially as he can boost the club’s homegrown quota.
Watford’s relegation to the Championship will force them to listen to offers for all of their regular starters.
New Leicester defender could have chosen Spurs
Recent Leicester City signing Timothy Castagne could have joined Tottenham, according to his father.
Spurs were in the market for a new right-back following Kyle Walker-Peters’ departure to Southampton and the uncertainty over Serge Aurier’s future.
However, they bought in Wolves defender Matt Doherty to boost their options instead.
Castagne’s father, Pierre, revealed that his son could have chosen to join Mourinho’s side rather than team up with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.
However, it appears that Spurs would have had to offload Aurier before they were in a position to match the Foxes’ offer for the Belgium international.
