Here are the Tottenham morning headlines on Saturday, May 16.
Spurs dealt blow in race for starlet
Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their bid to land teenage sensation Charlie Allen, according to Football Insider.
Spurs are understood to have been tracking the Irish 16-year-old starlet, who is currently on the books of Linfield.
However, Leeds are said to have had a bid accepted for the youngster and are now in pole position to sign him.
The Championship club have reportedly agreed a fee of around £300,000 for the prodigiously talented attacking midfielder.
Redknapp and Crouch discuss striker’s departure
Peter Crouch has revealed how he made Daniel Levy unhappy when he left Tottenham.
Harry Redknapp was in charge at White Hart Lane when Crouch joined Stoke on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2011.
And Crouch, in discussion with the former Spurs boss, said that his desire to stay put annoyed Levy, who was keen to cash in.
“(It) was tough. I wanted to stay. We had the conversation in the office with me, you and Daniel Levy on loudspeaker," Crouch said on the Peter Crouch Podcast.
"[Emmanuel] Adebayor was coming in – I get it, he was trying to balance the books and they had an offer of £10 million from Stoke.
“I was digging my heels in a bit and Daniel wasn’t too pleased with that because it was deadline day.”
Spurs and Arsenal battle for defender
Tottenham and Arsenal are reportedly poised to go head-to-head in the race to sign Reims defender Axel Disasi
French publication RMC Sport reports that the two north London clubs, together with Southampton, are tracking the 22-year-old.
Disasi could be on the market for as little as £13.3m, having made more than 30 appearances for Reims in 2019/20.
The centre-back was one of his team’s outstanding performers, with Reims sixth in Ligue 1 before the season was cancelled.
Spurs are keen to sign another central defender this summer as Jan Vertonghen looks set to become a free agent.
