Tottenham morning headlines as Spurs plot £20m move for defender and Mourinho gets Bale boost

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Thursday, October 8.

Spurs target Willian Jose returns to Real Sociedad training

Brazilian striker Willian Jose has returned to Real Sociedad training after failing to secure a move away from La Liga side during the summer transfer window.

The 28-year old was linked with a move to Tottenham and Spanish rivals Sevilla, but neither side was able to reach an agreement with the Basque club, according to Diario AS.

Spurs were rumoured to be open to paying £22.5million for him after failing with an offer in January, but the report claims no bid was received by La Real.

Should Spurs win a trophy this season?

Tottenham are unlikely to follow up their interest in the winter transfer market following the loan arrivals of Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius from Real Madrid and Benfica respectively.

Tottenham plotting a £20m swoop for Swansea City star Joe Rondon

Tottenham are still considering a move for Swansea City defender Joe Rondon before the EFL transfer window closes on October 16.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for a new centre-back after failing to complete a deal for various targets last month.

Spurs were linked with a £20m deadline day move for the Welsh international, but Daniel Levy will aim to drive that price down to below £15m.

The 22-year old has earned rave reviews for his performances at the Liberty Stadium and Wales Online reporter Ian Mitchelmore looks at what he could offer Tottenham if a deal can be reached.

“Rodon is remarkably composed on the ball and certainly isn't afraid to take it upon himself to get Swansea - and Wales - playing out from the back,” he said.

He has regularly been compared to John Stones given his attributes as a modern ball playing central defender. However, Rodon's defensive capabilities ensure he's something of a throwback too.”

Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius back in training ahead of West Ham clash

Summer signings Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius could both be included in the squad to face West Ham next weekend after the pair returned to training.

Bale is yet to feature for Jose Mourinho’s side following his loan return from Real Madrid due to a knee injury, whilst Vinicius missed the deadline to be included against Manchester United.

Both players are expected to feature against the Hammers, but with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in excellent form, they are likely to start on the bench.
