Tottenham morning headlines as Spurs offered £30m-rated midfielder, Wanyama hits out at exit

Here are the Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Friday, May 22.

Wanyama claims Tottenham treated him badly

Former Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama says it was “sad” that the club did not allow him to leave sooner - and that he could have re-joined Celtic before eventually moving to Thierry Henry's Montreal Impact.

“It was sad the way they were treating me. I had given my all to the club,” he told Madgoat TV (via The Sun).

“I loved the club and had a good relationship with the fans and the players so I wanted to leave the club to at least enjoy football again.”

Tottenham behind the scenes

Wanyama waxed lyrical about his time at Celtic, but of more pertinence to Spurs fans spoke about how the club let him down.

“They started to delay a lot of things, even Celtic among many other teams wanted to sign me but the club was taking me on rounds until the deals collapse, and the transfer windows close," he said.

Tottenham offered the chance to sign Sanson

Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson has been offered to Tottenham by his agent, Pini Zahavi, according to L’Equipe.

The French club, having taken a big financial hit because of football’s suspension, are reportedly hoping to sell him for £30million.

Sanson has played 26 games in Ligue 1 so far this season, and his campaign is over following French football’s decision to end the 2019/20 season.

Marseille were second in the league, 12 points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, and Sanson played a key role in their success.

Jose Mourinho is likely to be interested in adding new midfielders this summer after a difficult start to life at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Danny Rose reveals his admiration for Brendan Rodgers

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose has hinted that he would like to join up with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.

Rose briefly worked with Rodgers while on loan at Watford as a teenager, and was full of praise for the Northern Irishman’s methods.

“Getting to work with him for two months was brilliant,” he told The Lockdown Tactics podcast.

“The training sessions were up until that point as an 18 or 19-year-old I had never experienced that before. His ideas in training, it was brilliant and I have always said that he is somebody I would love to play for again.”

Rose is currently on loan at Newcastle United, and his long-term future at Spurs is certainly in doubt.
