Tottenham morning headlines as Spurs eye shock transfer for Arsenal star, Juan Foyth latest

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Sunday, 9 August.

Spurs eye shock swoop for Maitland-Niles

Tottenham could make a stunning swoop for Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who has been made available for transfer.

Despite featuring in over 20 Premier League games this season and impressing in the FA Cup final triumph over Chelsea, Maitland-Niles could leave the Emirates this summer.

The Daily Star cite a report in the Mirror that states the 22-year-old could become the first player to move between the north London rivals since Rohan Ricketts in 2002.

Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion are also said to hold an interest in the versatile player, who could command a transfer fee in the region of £30million.

Bailey linked to Premier League

Tottenham and Everton are among the clubs looking at a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, report Sport1.

The 22-year-old is said to be a target for Spurs and he could help revolutionise their attack next season after impressing in the Bundesliga.

A year ago, the Jamaica international said, via football.london: “Fundamentally, my dream has always been, and still is, to play in England.

“If I continue to work hard, I am sure that it will work out.”

Foyth linked to Spurs exit

Tottenham central defender Juan Foyth has a big decision to make on his future this summer, as outlined in a report by football.london.

The 22-year-old joined Spurs in 2017 from Estudiantes and featured 17 times in the 2018/19 campaign, including starting the Champions League home knockout games against Borussia Dortmund and Ajax.

Yet this season he has been frozen out and has yet to play a single minute for the club in 2020.

The likely arrival of midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton means Spurs have reached the limit of foreign players - 17 - in their Europa League squad, with Foyth one of the favourites to make way.

Foyth was highly rated by Mauricio Pochettino but has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho and now may be sold.
