Tottenham morning headlines as Spurs eye Mexico star and Bale teaches Bergwijn a lesson

Good morning, Tottenham fans. Here are your morning headlines for Thursday, November 5.

Spurs tracking Mexican winger

Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League sides keeping a close eye on Cruz Azul winger Orbelin Pineda, according to 90Min.

Pineda, who is also attracting interest from Arsenal and West Ham United, previously rejected the chance to play in the Premier League, turning Manchester City down in 2016 in favour of a move to his current side.

Spurs train ahead of Ludogorets trip

The 24-year-old has notched eight goals and seven assists in 68 games for Azul and has earned 23 caps for the Mexico national team.

Pineda’s contract expires in December 2021 and he is thought to be keen on a move to Europe, with Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Porto, and Monaco four clubs on the continent credited with an interest in his signature.

Bale shows Bergwijn how to get back into Mourinho’s good books

Out-of-favour Spurs winger Steven Bergwijn can look to Gareth Bale for inspiration on how to elbow his way back into Jose Mourinho’s good graces, writes Nestor Watch.

Bergwijn has found first-team football hard to come by at Tottenham this season with the Dutchman handed only three starts in all competitions.

And after being hooked at half-time in Spurs’ Europa League defeat by Royal Antwerp last week, he was excluded from Mourinho’s squad for the league win over Brighton & Hove Albion as Gareth Bale came off the bench to score a late winner.

With Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in exceptional form, and Bale now off and running following his return, Bergwijn faces an uphill battle in the quest to reclaim his spot under Mourinho.

Mourinho to ring changes for Ludogorets

Spurs boss Mourinho could make as many as six changes for this evening’s trip to Ludogorets.

Mourinho has already confirmed Bale will start in Bulgaria but he will be without injured duo Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier, as well as Sergio Reguilon, who has the flu.

After defeat by Antwerp, Mourinho will be keen to collect three points and reignite Spurs’ hopes of reaching the Europa League knockout stages.

With that in mind, here is the XI football.london believes the Portuguese coach will select against Ludogorets:

(4-2-3-1) Hart; Doherty, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies; Hojbjerg, Winks; Bale, Lo Celso, Son; Kane.
