Tottenham morning headlines as Spurs eye Harry Kane back-up, AC Milan launch Serge Aurier move

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Sunday, August 2.

Spurs ponder Deeney move

Watford captain Troy Deeney has been offered to Tottenham as back-up to striker Harry Kane.

As outlined by the Daily Mail, the experienced striker is likely to leave Vicarage Road this summer following the club’s relegation as he is one of the Hornets' highest earners.

Spurs need to sign a striker to add depth to their ranks, especially after youngster Troy Parrott was allowed to join Millwall on a season-long loan.

Tottenham are said to be considering a loan offer for Deeney but, as he is in the final year of his contract at Vicarage Road, such a deal may not be suitable.

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson is said to be another striking option for Spurs.

Milan 'open talks' with Aurier

Italian giants AC Milan have opened talks to sign Tottenham full-back Serge Aurier this summer, according to reports in Italy, via the Daily Star.

The Ivorian international is said to be on the Rossoneri’s radar as they plan to sell either of their current right-backs Davide Calabria or Andrea Conti.

Aurier, 27, is the first-choice right-back at Spurs after Kyle Walker-Peters was sent out on loan to Southampton and Kieran Trippier was sold last summer,

“We spoke to his agent last year,” Milan technical director Paolo Maldini is cited as saying.

“We think about ending the season well, then in these three weeks we have to operate on the market.”

Spurs hold interest in Brooks

Tottenham are one of three Premier League clubs to express an interest in signing Bournemouth star midfielder David Brooks.

The Daily Star claims Spurs, West Ham and Everton are among the clubs keen to sign the 23-year-old, who the Cherries are desperate to retain after their relegation.

The Welsh playmaker is a key player for Bournemouth and missed a large chunk of the current season through injury, but unlike Nathan Ake and Wilson they believe they can keep him for a promotion push next season.

Brooks joined the Cherries two years ago from Sheffield United.
