Napoli striker Millik reacts to failed summer switch
Tottenham were one of a number of clubs hoping to sign Polish international striker Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli this summer.
He was touted as a signing for Juventus, Fiorentina and even Roma within Serie A, while Spurs led the pursuit from overseas.
In the end, however, he stayed put, as most other clubs either kept their own No.9 or, as with the case of Spurs and Carlos Vinicius, found an alternative - but Milik has been left out of the squad by Gennaro Gattuso all the same, meaning he faces a wait until January at least for game-time.
He’s not too bothered, though, pointing out the short wait time between now and then due to the extended window.
“Now, I’ll wait for the next transfer window and I hope the clubs can find an understanding,” Milik told Sportowefakty.pl. “Physically I’m fine, I have trained well individually.
“I will play matches with the national side. In three months, my form won’t be too much affected.”
He’s not likely to have a shortage of options in January, though it’s doubtful Spurs will now be among them.
Hart explains Spurs moment of realisation
Joe Hart hasn’t been at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for long, but he knows they have a very capable side, and feels the rest of the squad are just starting to acknowledge that, too.
While part of Jose Mourinho’s side have been away on international duty, the rest have been putting in more time on the training pitch and realising they have a chance to have a big season.
"It’s a powerful squad, a squad that is starting to realise how special it could be," Hart said to Spurs' official website.
“It’s a squad where it’s been proved already that everyone has a role to play, whatever that may be. If we’re going to be successful, we need to get our heads around that."
Rodon talks continue with Spurs “confident” of deal
It is widely reported by now that Tottenham are trying to conclude a deal for Swansea defender Joe Rodon, with Friday the deadline for domestic transfers.
Football Insider are claiming that “multiple players” have been offered to the Welsh club as part-exchange offerings to help seal the deal, including USA defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, who is not part of Mourinho’s plans.
A potential loan back for the season is also up for negotiation.
