Here are the Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Wednesday, July 22.
Spurs made Bellingham offer
Tottenham failed with a £1million bid for new Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham last year when he was at Birmingham City.
That is according to a report in The Telegraph, as cited by tothelaneandback.com which claims Spurs had identified the teenager as a potential signing but made an insufficient offer, which was instantly rejected.
Bellingham has starred for Blues this season and has now joined Dortmund in a £25m deal after rejecting interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.
Tottenham make late Hojbjerg move
Tottenham have made a late move to hijack Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s move to Everton, according to the Telegraph.
Reports on Tuesday from the Southern Daily Echo claimed the Toffees had a £25m offer accepted from Southampton for the Danish midfielder, who is out of contract next summer.
Hojbjerg has even visited the Merseyside club’s training facilities after the club improved on their initial £18m offer, which was rejected by Saints.
If Spurs are to have any hope of landing the central midfielder, they must at least match the new Toffees offer and hope to persuade the player that north London is a more attractive proposition.
Spurs aim for record at Palace
Jose Mourinho’s side make the trip across London to Crystal Palace on Sunday, hopeful of an achievement that has eluded them for two seasons.
If Spurs manage to avoid defeat at Selhurst Park then they will have finished the campaign unbeaten in six matches, a feat that they have not managed since the 2017/18 campaign.
That came when Mauricio Pochettino’s side were on a 14-game unbeaten streak - form they have not been able to replicate since.
Spurs hold hopes of pipping Wolves into the top six and a guaranteed Europa League place with victory in South London.
