Tottenham morning headlines as Son tipped to sign new deal, Mourinho on Rose future

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Thursday, 22 October.

Give Son ‘whatever he asks for’ - Hutton

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton has told his old side to give Son Heung-min ‘whatever he asks for’ in order to keep the South Korean at the club.

As per The Telegraph, Spurs are keen to tie Son down to a new deal following his scintillating start to the season which has seen him score seven goals in five league games.

And Hutton believes Son has earned a potential new big-money deal after proving his worth for Jose Mourinho’s side.

“Just give him what he wants, I mean that, whatever he asks for, just give him it,” Hutton told Football Insider.

Tottenham v LASK Linz: Jose Mourinho pre match press conference

“I think he’s sensational. “He’s been that player that, even when Tottenham were struggling, he was the one that could really give you something. He’s got pace, he’s clever, he scores all types of goals, he’s got the whole package in my opinion.

“I even sometimes think he’s underrated when you talk about other players in the league – people talk about (Sadio) Mane and (Mohamed) Salah and all these kind of guys and he is way up there.”

Mourinho outlines Rose stance

Mourinho has reiterated that Danny Rose is not part of his plans after leaving the left-back out of his Premier League squad.

Rose, who was also omitted from the Europa League squad, will not be able to play for Tottenham before he secures a move away.

“Danny is not part of our squad,” said Mourinho.

“Danny wanted very, very, very much to leave in the January window last season. Why? Because he wanted to play and play and play.”

Rose was behind Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon in Mourinho’s pecking order, and while the latter has moved away on loan, Sergio Reguilon’s arrival has ensured Rose’s pathway to the first-team remains blocked off.

“Then the market, the market, the players make the market, the agents make the player's market,” added Mourinho.

“If he didn't find any solution that he was happy to move, it's something you have to ask him.”

Kane’s emphatic start to the season

In-form Spurs striker Harry Kane is well on course to surpass his career-best tally of 30 goals in a single Premier League season.

As outlined by Josh Williams, Kane has already scored five times with an average of 4.9 shots per 90 minutes.

He is averaging more shots than he did per game during the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons, while he has already surpassed his previous best of five assists with seven this term.

Should Kane continue apace, his goals record may fall before the end of the season.
