Tottenham morning headlines as Serge Aurier to AC Milan transfer in doubt and Joe Hart verdict

Here are the Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Wednesday, August 19.

Spurs signing Hart is ‘good business’ - Bruce

Alex Bruce believes Tottenham Hotspur’s acquisition of goalkeeper Joe Hart is ‘good business’ for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Hart on Tuesday completed a surprise move to Spurs on a two-year deal. The former Manchester City stopper will act as back-up for Hugo Lloris following Michel Vorm’s departure.

And while some have been taken aback by the move, Bruce believes Hart will provide much-needed cover as Spurs aim to reestablish their title credentials.

Rob Guest and Lee Wilmot dissect Joe Hart to Spurs

“I do think it’s good business,” he told Football Insider.

“Joe’s had his ups and downs, he’s been hammered but over the course of his career he’s been a good goalkeeper as well.

“The fact he’s got a move to Tottenham is great for him. It will bring added cover in the goalkeeper areas for Spurs and Jose’s delighted to get him in.”

Milan wary of Aurier’s price-tag

AC Milan remain interested in signing Spurs defender Serge Aurier although the Italians are reluctant to match the player’s £23million price-tag.

As per Calciomercato, the Ivorian right-back is willing to join the Serie A side, who must sell players first in order to fund the transfer.

Mourinho is willing to let Aurier leave this summer despite the defender having figured prominently since the Portuguese’s appointment in November.

Aurier has made 83 appearances since joining Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain for £23m in 2017.

How Ampadu decision impacts Spurs

Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu’s determination to fight for a first-team place at Stamford Bridge has had a knock-on effect for Spurs.

Norwich City had been keen to take the young Wales international on loan but subsequently plumped for Spurs midfielder Oliver Skipp due to Ampadu’s desire to become a regular fixture under Blues boss Frank Lampard.

Skipp, 19, joined the Canaries on a season-long loan this week. The England under-21 international hopes to gain regular first-team experience at Carrow Road as Norwich look to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

Skipp made 15 Premier League appearances over the last two seasons, only three of which were starts.
