Tottenham morning headlines as Real Madrid help fund Gareth Bale transfer, Daniel Levy verdict

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Thursday, 10 September.

Tottenham handed massive Bale boost

Spanish giants Real Madrid are ready to pay half of Gareth Bale’s wages in an attempt to send him out on loan this summer, according to a report by The Telegraph.

The Wales international has made his desire to leave the Spanish capital clear in recent months, with the winger having fallen out of favour under manager Zinidine Zidane.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with bringing the former Southampton star back to north London, with Jose Mourinho keen to add fresh quality to his squad.

Up until now, reports linking Bale with a return to the Premier League have been nothing more than rumours, but with Madrid ready to subsidise half of his wages, more clubs may fancy their chances of landing the Welshman.

Striker search ongoing

Tottenham’s pursuit of a new striker is still ongoing, football.london report.

Spurs are desperate to strengthen their forward line and add some much-needed competition for star man Harry Kane at the top end of the pitch.

While Spurs have been keen on adding a frontman to their ranks ever since Jose Mourinho took over as manager, it’s been hard due to the presence of Kane.

However, Tottenham may have found a potential new man, with the club now having registered an interest in Patson Daka of RB Salzburg.

The 21-year-old made a real name for himself in Austria last season, scoring 24 goals in 31 outings.

Berbatov: Levy divides opinion

Former Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has told football.london that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is a man who divides opinion.

After two seasons donning the famous white strip, the Bulgarian made the switch to Old Trafford, joining Manchester United.

His manager, Alex Ferguson, went on record as saying that dealing with Levy was more painful than having a hip replacement.

Reflecting on his switch to Old Trafford, Berbatov told football.london: "He's always looking for the best interests of the club. I don't care who you are or where you come from, or how much money you have, if you don't give the money I want, you know you're going to have a hard time.

"I would be the same if I was a chairman of a club as well. The club comes first always and that's why I'm so happy to see how the club has developed with a new ground and a new stadium, which is the best in Europe.”
