Good morning, Tottenham fans. Here are your Spurs morning headlines for Saturday, June 27.
Spurs offer Pochettino new contract
Mauricio Pochettino’s son is set to stay at Spurs, despite his father’s sacking in November.
Released on Friday, the Premier League’s club-by-club retained list shows that Maurizio Pochettino has been offered a new deal and will remain in north London.
Still only 19, he joined the academy when his father was manager but hasn’t made a senior appearance for Spurs so far.
Vertonghen drops big hint about exit
Having signed a short-term deal to keep him at Spurs until the end of the season, Jan Vertonghen has indicated that he’ll be moving on when it expires in July.
Speaking to Sporza, he said: “I can’t say much, but things are moving. Most teams are waiting for the season to end and until they’re sure of TV money coming in.
“Timo Werner’s transfer to Chelsea already proves that there is still enough money in the market.
“Once the ball starts rolling again, it’ll all be fine.”
Mourinho’s transfer window priorities become clearer
Jose Mourinho’s priorities in the transfer market have become clearer since the Premier League restart, writes Reece Chambers.
Spurs should look to recruit a right-back over the coming months, with stats from their last two games reinforcing the perception that Serge Aurier’s inclusion leads to an imbalance in the side.
Mourinho could also do with more options in the deep midfield positions, despite decent performances from Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Giovani Lo Celso against Manchester United and West Ham.
Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move to Spurs and he fits the right profile. He is heading into the last year of his contract and is expected to leave St Mary’s this summer.
