Tottenham morning headlines as Napoli transfer targets identified and no Jack Grealish regrets

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Thursday, 26 November.

Sanchez tipped for start

Former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton has tipped Davinson Sanchez to start against Ludogorets due to the absence of Toby Alderweireld and Joe Rodon.

Alderweireld is set for several weeks on the sidelines after sustaining an injury against Manchester City, while Rodon is unavailable as he is not in the Europa League squad.

Hutton told Football Insider: “There’s obviously competition for that place he’s not played much, so he’s going to have to come in and perform. It’s as simple as that because if it doesn’t there will be somebody else waiting to take his jumper.

“It’s a shame Rodon’s not in the European squad, I think that would have been a great game for him to come in – at home, play against a lesser team, if you like, and really find his feet – but he’s not in it, he’s unavailable.

Jose Mourinho pre-Ludogorets press conference

“Sanchez is probably going to be the one that’s going to have to come in and step up so he’ll have to play at his best as he wants to stay in that team, that’s for sure.”

The reason Spurs do not need Grealish

Tottenham wanted to sign Aston Villa star Jack Grealish two years ago but were not willing to meet the £40million price tag of the then-Championship player.

Now, a report in football.london has outlined why Spurs no longer have any need for the England international; namely, the form of Tanguy Ndombele.

The Frenchman has been reinvigorated at the club this campaign after a difficult debut season and is thriving in a midfield role similar to that of Grealish.

The 23-year-old’s role in a 4-2-3-1 is slightly deeper than Grealish’s, but he is equally influential and has underpinned the strong form of Spurs this campaign.

Both have different roles despite occupying similar positions, highlighting why the Villa talisman may not necessarily be a good fit for the current Spurs side under Jose Mourinho.

Spurs eyes on Napoli targets

Tottenham made seven additions to their first-team squad in the summer but they could be alerted to the situation at Napoli which may make more stars available.

According to Corriere dello Sport and as cited by football.london, Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso has a strained relationship with his players following the weekend game against Milan and several stars may leave.

Central defender Kalidou Koulibaly is Napoli’s prized asset and the Senegalese star has attracted attention from Europe’s top clubs in recent times.

Striker Arkadiusz Milik has been linked with a move to Spurs previously and could provide competition for Harry Kane, while right-back Kevin Malcuit may also be on Spurs’ radar.
