Tottenham morning headlines as Marseille offer £10m midfielder and contract talks opened

Here are the Tottenham headlines for Friday, March 27.

Spurs offered Villas Boas favourite

Maxime Lopez could be on his way to Tottenham with Marseille prepared to sell the midfielder for just £10m at the end of the season, according to the Daily Star .

Lopez is out of contract in 2021 and talks over a new deal at the Stade Velodrome have stalled. The Ligue 1 side do not want to lose him for nothing so have offered Spurs the opportunity to complete a cut-price deal.

West Ham United and Sevilla - who had a £14m bid rejected in January - and also interested in the 22-year-old, who has featured 27 times under former Spurs boss Andre Villas Boas this season.

Arsenal have previously been linked with the France Under-21 international but aren’t expected to pursue a deal at this time.

Jose Mourinho: His best quotes at Tottenham

Rose set for permanent exit?

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has told The Chronicle he hopes to make Danny Rose’s loan move permanent at the end of the season.

The Tottenham left-back joined the Magpies on a six-month loan deal in January and featured in all five of the club’s Premier League fixtures before the campaign was brought to a half.

"He is an established quality player,” Bruce said. “We managed to get him through the door and he will be great for the next three months. And hopefully longer after that."

Rose started the season as Tottenham’s first-choice left-back but lost his place in the side after Jose Mourinho’s arrival.

Tottenham start talks with homegrown star

Spurs have begun contract negotiations with Oliver Skipp and want the midfielder to commit his long-term future to the club, according to Football Insider .

Skipp has started just three matches for Tottenham this season in all competitions but the club are impressed with his development and want to extend his current deal which expires in the summer of 2021.

Mourinho included the 19-year-old in the matchday squad for both Champions League fixtures against RB Leipzig and the Portuguese’s decision to let Victor Wanyama leave for Montreal Impact on a free was supposedly because he trusts the 19-year-old to step into the first team when required.
