Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Saturday, 12 September.
Mourinho on Ndombele’s “incredible potential”
Jose Mourinho did not always see eye-to-eye with Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele last season, but he has singled him out for praise ahead of the new campaign.
The central-midfielder endured a tough debut campaign after arriving from Lyon but will now be looking to show his true potential at the club.
"He’s working very hard. I have to be honest and say he is working better than ever," Mourinho said, via football.london.
"Of course he finished the season injured, with a very important injury.
"He came back after holidays and of course he was still injured, in spite of doing some work on the recovery process.
"He didn’t start the pre-season with us. When you saw him 45 minutes against Watford it was easy to understand and say he’s not in the best condition, but he trained only two days before that match.
"This week he did not go to the national team and trained every day. Is his condition better today than it was last week? Yes his condition is better and he is working very, very hard.
"So the point now is - can he keep that commitment and desire? If he does it, he has incredible potential.”
Spurs pursuit of Daka over
Tottenham are hopeful of signing a new striker this transfer window but it appears they will not be signing Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka.
As per football.london, the player’s agent has confirmed the striker will remain in Austria this season and not leave this window.
The Zambian striker scored 27 goals across all competitions last season.
Tottenham unlikely to sign Milik
Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik is unlikely to be signed by Tottenham this summer, according to Sky Italy's Gianluca Di Marzio, via Sky Sports.
The Poland international has netted 48 goals in 122 games for Napoli since joining from Ajax in 2016 but his £32.5million valuation by the Serie A club looks to have scuppered any deal.
However, Watford captain Troy Deeney has now emerged as a viable transfer option for Spurs this summer.
