Tottenham morning headlines as Jose Mourinho plans Serge Aurier swap deal for Juventus star

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Wednesday, May 13.

Spurs planning double Italian swoop

Tottenham are reportedly hopeful of signing full-backs Alex Sandro and Timothy Castagne from Juventus and Atalanta respectively.

The details are outlined by Italian media outlet Tuttomercato, which outlines how Jose Mourinho has identified both players in order to boost his ranks this summer.

Spurs are light in the full-back positions and particularly on the right side after not replacing Kieran Trippier last summer after his sale to Atletico Madrid.

The report claims Tottenham are offering right-back Serge Aurier plus cash for Brazil international Sandro, while Belgian international Caastagne has been identified as Aurier’s replacement.

Clarke to return from QPR

Jack Clarke has endured a turbulent campaign after joining Spurs permanently from Leeds United last summer and needs a fresh start.

As outlined by football.london, the winger is likely to return from Spurs this summer after spending the campaign out on loan.

Clarke spent the first half of the season back on loan at Elland Road but made just one league appearance, leading to that deal being cut short and the England youth international moving to Queen’s Park Rangers in January on a temporary agreement.

It is now likely that Mourinho will want to see Clarke first-hand in Spurs training, while Football Insider suggests the 19-year-old could be loaned to Celtic next season.

Rose explains Ajax comeback

Danny Rose has explained why Spurs players were always confident they could pull off a remarkable comeback against Ajax in last year’s Champions League semi-finals.

After losing the home leg 1-0, Spurs found themselves two goals down at half-time in the Netherlands but a remarkable final half-hour led the club to a first ever Champions League final.

Rose played 82 minutes of the fixture - before he was replaced by Ben Davies - and he claims superior fitness levels and controlling midfield maestro Frenkie De Jong were key.

“Half-time, the manager was fine. He just said if we get the next goal we will do well,” Rose said.

“If you remember [Frenkie] De Jong, he was on flames and we said we needed to control him and we did. They were sick but we knew they were not fit like we were. We knew after 60 minutes we were going to dominate. I was pretty confident in that game.”
