Tottenham morning headlines as financial blow suffered, Spurs plan to hijack Man United transfer

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Tuesday, May 5.

Spurs to miss out on financial windfall

Clubs across Europe have seen their revenues hit following the suspension of the season.

But as well as losing matchday income from football matches, Tottenham will miss out on a windfall from the NFL.

The American football league announced on Monday that their London Games for 2020 will not take place.

Two matches were set to be staged at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with 60,000-plus crowds expected.

However, the cancellation of the Games means that Spurs will miss out on what would have been a timely financial boost.

Tottenham hope to hijack Hugill deal

Tottenham have made a last-ditch attempt to sign Joe Hugill from Sunderland, according to Football Insider.

The highly-rated 16-year-old was thought to be on the verge of a move to Manchester United, having agreed terms with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

However, Spurs have not yet given up hope of persuading Hugill to move to north London instead.

Tottenham have offered the teenager a contract, but the striker reportedly has his heart set on United.

The deal is not yet complete, though, giving Tottenham a glimmer of hope that Hugill will join them instead of their Premier League rivals.

Rose has no future - report

Danny Rose has no future at Tottenham under Jose Mourinho, according to The Sun.

Rose joined Newcastle on a season-long loan in the January transfer window, having failed to convince Mourinho of his worth in his first two months in charge.

As the Premier League attempts to resume the 2019/20 season next month, clubs are in talks about extending loan deals beyond the end of May.

But while Kyle Walker-Peters, who is currently on loan at Southampton, may have a future back at Spurs, Rose is unlikely to play for the club again.

The England international is out of contract in 2021 and could depart on a permanent basis before then.
