Tottenham morning headlines as Dele Alli must change his game and Jack Wilshere's Spurs admission

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Wednesday, November 11.

Why Alli may need to remodel his game to save his Spurs career

When Dele Alli was named in the starting line-up for Tottenham Hotspur ’s Premier League opener against Everton, the idea of him barely featuring this season would have felt far-fetched.

However, not only has the former MK Dons man been limited to just 21 further minutes in the league, he hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes in any competition this term.

The problems for the England international are twofold: his number 10 role has been made redundant as a result of Harry Kane’s reinvention this season, while his path into the team in a deeper role is made tougher by the resurgence of Tanguy Ndombele after a difficult first season.

The solution for Alli may be to move away from the role where he played some of his best football under Mauricio Pochettino and attempt to force his way into a deeper midfield role.

Jose Mourinho press conference following 1-0 win vs West Brom

Of late, Jose Mourinho has preferred a combination of Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Moussa Sissoko, but there may well be a temptation to use two more forward-thinking midfielders ahead of Hojbjerg as the season continues. If that’s the case, Alli may have found the role to aim for, but it will require a new approach to his game.

Loanees enjoying mixed fortunes away from north London

A number of Tottenham players have been sent out on loan this season in order to pick up experience and game-time elsewhere, and some have been performing better than others.

Much has been made of Oliver Skipp’s strong start on loan at Norwich City in the Championship, but he isn’t the only one racking up the minutes.

Ryan Sessegnon has begun to make an impression on loan at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, while TJ Eyoma has been a big star during a stint with Lincoln City in League One, helping them climb into the top six.

It’s not been all positive, though, with injuries hampering loanees such as Juan Foyth and Troy Parrott and others featuring a little less regularly.

We have taken a look at all the players sent out on loan by Tottenham to see how they have been getting on at their respective clubs.

Wilshere admits he could never join Spurs despite calling Mourinho ‘unbelievable’

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted to being a big fan of Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, but even that wouldn’t be enough for him to ever consider a Spurs move.

During an appearance on Sky Sports’ Super 6 Podcast (via the Standard ), the England international addressed the idea of one day turning out for his former club’s big rivals and was unequivocal in his answer.

"I love [Jose] Mourinho, I think he's an unbelievable coach ... But I couldn't do it,” Wilshere said.

"They wouldn't have me... But I don't think I could do it. It's not as if Arsenal got rid of me and kicked me out and there is a bad feeling, they offered me a deal and I wanted to try something else. I'm an Arsenal man."

Wilshere has been without a club since agreeing to a mutual termination of his West Ham United contract in October.

The 28-year-old has more than 180 Premier League appearances under his belt, the bulk of them in an Arsenal shirt, having made his Gunners debut as a 16-year-old.
