Bale gives Spurs title ambitions - Redknapp
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes Gareth Bale’s arrival has significantly boosted the club’s chances of challenging for the Premier League title.
Bale returned to Spurs on a season-long loan from Real Madrid during a productive transfer window that saw Jose Mourinho strengthen in several key areas.
And Redknapp believes that a combination of Bale, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane can lift Spurs into contention this season.
"Gareth coming back will make such a difference to Tottenham, he's an amazing player." Redknapp told BBC Sport Wales. "With Kane, Son and Bale that's an amazing front three that could scare any team.
"I honestly think they've got a squad there capable of having a real chance to win the Premier League.
"You've got to fancy Liverpool and you'd have to fancy Manchester City, they would have to be favourites. But if anybody else is going to challenge them this year I think it's Tottenham."
Spurs blocked Clarke loan exit
Tottenham decided against allowing Jack Clarke to leave on loan on deadline day, according to Football Insider.
Clarke has struggled to establish himself at Spurs after arriving from Leeds United in a £10million deal in 2019, spending the second half of last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers.
Birmingham City were thought to be one of several Championship clubs keen to take the winger on loan only for Spurs to block his departure as they had concerns over his playing time.
Clarke is expected to play a prominent role with the Spurs under-23s side with Mourinho and his coaching staff keeping a close eye on his development.
Spurs and Liverpool to battle for Phillips
Tottenham are set to battle Premier League champions Liverpool for the signature of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to the Mirror.
Phillips has made a strong start to life in the Premier League, earning his England debut against Denmark in September.
Mourinho and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp are both said to have been impressed by the deep-lying midfielder’s performances for Leeds.
Phillips, who is under contract at Leeds until 2024, is valued at approximately £50million.
