Tottenham morning headlines as Daniel Levy continues Milan Skriniar talks and Serge Aurier eyed

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Monday, 28 September.

Pundit heaps praise on injured ace

Former Manchester City defender and new Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards has compared the influence of Son Heung-min at Spurs to Kevin De Bruyne and Sadio Mane at their respective clubs.

Richards discussed the Korean’s attitude, endeavour and ability to dumbfound defenders with his unpredictability, hard running and clinical edge following the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United in which Son was substituted with a hamstring injury.

"How many times do you see him miss chances? Very rarely. He’s an absolute steal for Spurs,” explained Richards.

"He always finds the spaces, he always looks to run in behind. What I like about Son the most is his composure in front of goal.

The ex-City man discussed his relief that he had never faced the attacker during his playing days, owing to his own perceived inability to deal with a player of such talent.

Spurs could be without Son for a number of weeks, however, depending on the severity of the hamstring problem which saw him swapped during the second half.

Spurs set to negotiate with Inter over Slovak defender

Tottenham are still some way off agreeing a deal with Inter Milan for 25-year-old centre-back Milan Skriniar, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, as cited by football.london.

The Italian outlet reports Spurs are set to launch a new bid, but one which stipulates a €40million obligation-to-buy be included in a season-long loan deal.

Inter are understood to be keen to offload the defender permanently this summer, for a sum at least €10million higher than Spurs’ intended offer.

This could prove to be a sticking point in negotiations as the transfer window enters into its final week.

Škriniar did not feature in Inter’s last-gasp 4-3 win over ACF Fiorentina at the weekend, leading to further speculation that the defender is being readied for a move elsewhere.

Out-of-favour defender attracting Italian interest

While Spurs may be keen to seal the incoming of one defender currently playing at San Siro, they could be set to offload one of their own too.

AC Milan are reportedly interested in bringing second-choice right-back Serge Aurier to northern Italy, hoping to strike a deal before the October 5th deadline in a week’s time.

The Daily Mail report Aurier has a handful of suitors, but no destinations have been deemed suitable as yet by the Ivorian. Aurier is contracted until 2022, but with patchy form last season and the signing of Matt Doherty this summer, appears to be out of the first-team picture at Hotspur Way.

The 27-year-old could be interested in a Milan move, rather than a switch to the Russian Premier League with Spartak Moscow – an opportunity he is said to have turned down. He is yet to feature in the Premier League for Spurs this season, omitted from the squad to face Newcastle last weekend.
