Tottenham morning headlines as Christian Eriksen offered to Chelsea and Danny Rose set for exit

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Friday, 11 September.

Jose Mourinho’s under-the-radar decision ahead of season opener against Everton

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has an under-the-radar decision to make for Sunday’s season opener against Everton that could have a big bearing on the rest of the campaign.

Joe Hart’s arrival at the North London club over the summer caught some by surprise, with Mourinho implying that the former Manchester City goalkeeper had been signed to provide some competition to Hugo Lloris.

However, it was Paulo Gazziniga who acted as Spurs’ second-choice keeper over pre-season, so will that carry into the season itself or will Hart take up the role that was expected for him when he signed?

Former Tottenham playmaker offered to Chelsea

His departure from Tottenham was one of the defining transfers of the January window, but Christian Eriksen could be on his way back to the Premier League already.

According to the Guardian , the Danish playmaker has been offered to Chelsea having failed to make much of an impression at Inter, with the Italian side keen to use Eriksen as a makeweight in a deal for N’Golo Kante.

Antonio Conte wants to be reunited with Kante at the San Siro having worked with him previously at Chelsea and is willing to let Eriksen leave Inter in order to make that happen.

Inter paid €20million for Eriksen in the January transfer window, but the Dane has so far been restricted to substitute appearances under Conte, struggling to get to grips with a system that doesn’t have a natural place for him.

Serie A club interested in Tottenham Hotspur left back

Genoa are interested in Tottenham defender Danny Rose, with the left back not in Mourinho’s plans for the 2020/21 season.

Rose was allowed to join Newcastle United on loan in January after growing disgruntled over the lack of first team opportunities being offered to him by Mourinho, who favoured Ben Davies in the left-back role.

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio reports Genoa have registered their interest in Rose and are keen to take Rose on a similar deal to the one agreed by Newcastle back in January.

However, the Serie A side might have some trouble selling Rose on the move, with the 30-year-old reportedly viewing Genoa as a step down from the level he has grown accustomed to over his career.
