Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Sunday, 20 September.
Spurs could extend Bale loan past one season
Gareth Bale’s return to Spurs could see him stay past just a season-long loan.
Jose Mourinho had reportedly been the driving force behind the move to bring Bale back to north London and the Wales captain could stay beyond the end of this season.
It is understood that Spurs have inserted a clause in his contract where they have an option to extend his stay by another year.
While Bale is not fit enough to immediately start for Mourinho’s side, it is hoped that his arrival will boost Spurs’ chances of a top-four finish this term.
Winners and losers from Bale return
Signing Bale on a season-long loan provides a fair bit of positivity around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A seven-year absence from the club saw the Wales international win countless trophies at Real Madrid and he will want to deliver similar success with Spurs.
In terms of those who win from Bale returning to north London, Harry Kane and Jose Mourinho stand right at the top of that list.
Both will undoubtedly benefit from Bale being on the pitch with some pressure taken off of Kane’s shoulders while Mourinho will be hopeful of delivering success.
As Matt Gault writes, though, there will also be losers from the 31-year-old signing for the club.

The details behind Reguilon’s buy-back clause
Sergio Reguilon’s move to Spurs has excited a lot of supporters as Mourinho eyes more dynamic full-back options.
His move from Real Madrid, alongside Bale, comes with a buy-back clause that will allow the La Liga champions to re-sign the Spanish left-back in either the summer of 2021 or 2022.
football.london understands that the clause, if activated, will see Spurs make a £15million profit on Reguilon who impressed on loan at Sevilla last season.
While agreeing to a buy-back clause is unlike Spurs’ usual transfer activity, it will ultimately stand as a sign of how eager they were to secure Reguilon’s services in this transfer window.
