Tottenham morning headlines as Bale lifts lid on exit and Kane compared to Premier League legend

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Saturday, May 2.

Sherwood: Kane will know “very soon” about potential move

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood believes Harry Kane will know “very soon” whether to stay at the club or push for a move away.

Kane warned Spurs last month that if they fail to meet his ambitions surrounding major trophies, then he would not stay "for the sake of it".

Sherwood handed Kane his Spurs debut in 2013, but is yet to win any major silverware at the north London side.

"It’s like Alan Shearer," Sherwood explained to the Daily Mail. "He finishes fourth with Blackburn (1992/93), then second (1993/94). Manchester United are all over him.

"But he decides to stay, because he believes we have the quality to win it, and we did the next season.

"Harry needs to assess this himself. I would wait to see what they do in the summer.

"They’ve got a manager who has not gone there to only finish inside the top four.

"Harry will know very soon if the club are willing to spend that money to give themselves that opportunity of winning the league."

Bale opens up on Spurs exit

Former Tottenham star Gareth Bale has revealed why he could not have turned down the opportunity to join Real Madrid in 2013.

The Welshman had a sublime 2012/13 season for Spurs – scoring 26 goals and providing 15 assists in all competitions – and earned a move to perhaps the biggest club in world football.

Opening up on his time at Spurs and revealing why he made the decision to leave, Bale told the Hat-Trick Podcast: "I loved my time at Tottenham, the fans were incredible, the club treated me amazingly.

"I was enjoying it but when one of the biggest clubs in the world comes after you, you want to take that opportunity.

"Tottenham were progressing, the start of trying to get to the next level which we did. Then it took them a few years to get to the next level.

"Tottenham have kept growing which is fantastic to see, they’re still growing with a new training ground, new stadium and getting to the Champions League final."

Willian provides transfer update

Chelsea winger Willian would have no issue joining a London rival such as Tottenham or Arsenal, he has admitted.

The Brazilian is out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of June and looks set to leave the club he has spent seven years at.

Willian was close to joining Spurs back in 2013 but opted to join Chelsea instead.

The winger was in negotiations over a new deal at the Bridge but the 31-year-old wanted three years on a new contract, with the Blues only prepared to offer two.

"It really is a hard decision,” he told Brazilian YouTube channel Desimpedidos. "I identified myself a lot at Chelsea, I have a lot of love for everyone at the club, and the fans.

"However, it is like I said before: If I leave Chelsea with no trouble and leaving the doors open, it would be fine to move to a rival club.”

When asked if he’d like to stay in the English capital, Willian replied: "I don’t know. I like London and so does my family.

"However, this is a question that I still don’t know the answer, if I will stay at Chelsea, move to another team from London, or leave England."
