Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama set to wait for Champions League result before finalising Club Brugge move

Victor Wanyama is likely to wait until after the second leg of Club Brugge's Champions League play-off tie before finalising a move to Belgium.

Standard Sport revealed earlier this week that Tottenham had asked for £17million for the Kenyan international, but the Belgian club were prepared to pay just £8m.

Talks are ongoing in order to reach a compromise, but Wanyama also wants to see if Club Brugge make it through to the Champions League group stage.

They won the first leg of their play-off against Austrian side LASK Linz 1-0 on Tuesday, with the rematch at home coming next Wednesday.

Wanyama has struggled with injury over the past two seasons and was recently pushed further down the Tottenham midfield pecking order by the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele, signed in July from Lyon for a club-record fee.

The 28-year-old has started only 47 top-flight games since joining Spurs from Southampton for £11.5m in 2016.
