Tottenham may wait until end of season to appoint new manager

Tottenham are in no rush to appoint a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho.

For the second time in 18 months, Daniel Levy is looking for a new head coach having sacked the three-time Premier League winner with the club out of Europe and struggling to return next season.

With Ryan Mason in temporary charge until the end of the season, confirmation of a full-time appointment may wait until the current campaign concludes.

Tottenham are understood to be drawing up a list of candidates before identifying, and then approaching, a favoured choice.

RB Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann was believed to be of interest before Bayern Munich moved quickly amid speculation current incumbent Hansi Flick will succeed Joachim Lowe as Germany manager following the summer Euros.

Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers is also understood to have admirers in N17, but this week insisted he has no interest in the vacancy despite Tottenham's status as "one of the biggest clubs in Britain."

He told reporters: “I’m very happy here. I have huge respect here for the players, the board and I really feel that I want to continue my work here. I’ve got a really strong relationship with the board. We work very closely together."

Other names mentioned include Brighton boss Graham Potter, Fulham's Scott Parker and former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick.
