Tottenham may have already discovered their long-term future midfield partner for Oliver Skipp

Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley is backing on-loan Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harvey White to be a star for the future, insisting the youngster is a "coach's dream."

The central midfielder, who is 19-years-old, joined the League One side on loan until the end of the season back in January in an attempt to give him greater experience of consistently playing first-team football.

Highly rated by those at Hotspur Way, White has impressed since sealing his temporary move to the League One play-off hopefuls, racking up 18 appearances, scoring one goal.

White has been a key figure in the Pompey team since former Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City chief Cowley took charge in mid-March, so much so that his manager has heaped special praise on his shoulders, specifically for his potential and his maturity.

"Harvey is going to be a good player and got real maturity beyond his years," Cowley predicted, as quoted by The News. "He’s a really intelligent footballer. He watches loads of football, understands it and gets it.

"You only have to tell him an instruction once.

"He’s like a sponge and you’ll tell him something once and then he’ll be doing it. He’s so easy to coach, a coach’s dream.

"He’s got a great attitude, good pitch coverage now we’re trying to get him used to the combative nature of the transitional game in League One he’s probably not used to in development football.

"He’s got a lovely left foot, a nice range of passing and lovely receiving skills.

"We’re really enjoying working with him.”

White is not the only graduate from Spurs' academy to have made a name for himself in the EFL this season, with fellow central-midfielder Oliver Skipp having been nothing short of outstanding in Norwich City's Championship promotion-winning campaign.

Skipp, who has played in every one of the Canaries' 44 Championship outings this season, is considered as the next big star to break into the first team at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with his performances for both Norwich and England's Under-21s having not gone under the radar.

Whilst he is tipped to be a mainstay in Tottenham's first-team in years to come, White could certainly be on the right path to joining him if he continues to impress in League One and, quite possibly, add a promotion to his very own CV.
