Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino backs summer transfer Giovani Lo Celso to bounce back from injury

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has backed summer signing Giovani Lo Celso to bounce back from his injury setback.

Spurs this week announced that Lo Celso will be out injured for around six weeks after picking up an injury while on international duty with Argentina.

The club confirmed the 23-year-old has withdrawn from the squad after picking up an injury playing against Chile.

It is a blow for Pochettino, who signed Lo Celso on loan from Real Betis with an option to buy this summer.

“Always it’s a sad situation, very disappointed,” Pochettino said of the player’s injury setback. “For Giovani, the first months here was to adapt to a new club and new football.

“Everything he was doing in a very good way. We are all so disappointed because now we need to wait for him.

“In the same way we need to be positive, it’s not another way to take it, but we need to be positive and try to provide him with good quality training and recovery.

“In the moment that he’s ready, to be strong and start to help the team again.”

Tottenham return to action with a home fixture against Crystal Palace at 3pm on Saturday.
