Tottenham manager Antonio Conte agrees with Ed Woodward over Manchester United summer target

Antonio Conte agrees with Ed Woodward's judgement of Harry Winks after the Tottenham midfielder was the subject of summer interest from Manchester United.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News in October, a move for the 25-year-old was seen as a 'goer' with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's searching for a midfielder.

Winks on Sunday made his fifth league start of the season in the enthralling 2-2 draw with Liverpool, being named man of the match by Spurs fans after the game.

And the recent comments from Tottenham manager Conte backs the belief of the Manchester United vice-chairman.

"Harry Winks is working very hard," Conte said.

"He impressed me in training sessions with his commitment, his will, his desire. I think he is a really good player."

Drafted in with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp struggling with fitness, Winks earned plenty of plaudits for his display as Liverpool's own makeshift midfield were overrun and exposed.

With Ralf Rangnick now in place of Solskjaer, the German has been tipped to make a move for a holding midfielder during next month's transfer window with Amadou Haidara understood to be of interest.
