Tottenham make decision over training at Hotspur Way amid coronavirus shutdown

Jose Mourinho and his Tottenham players are expected in for training at Hotspur Way on Tuesday.

Following the decision to suspend Premier League football until April 3 due to the coronavirus outbreak, clubs across the country are having to adjust their plans with no games on the agenda for the next couple of weeks.

As part of the measures to stop the spread of the virus, Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged UK residents on Monday evening to avoid pubs, clubs and theatres, as well as stopping all non-essential travel.

With many people now working from home instead of making the trip to work, it has left some questioning if those football clubs yet to close their training grounds will now follow suit so that players can self-isolate.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been in lockdown since the end of last week after Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi both tested positive for coronavirus, with Crystal Palace closing their training base in Beckenham on Monday as a precautionary measure.

However, football.london understands that it is very much business as usual for Mourinho and his squad as Spurs have seen no symptoms of the virus amongst their players.

It is believed that the Premier League are yet to advise those clubs currently without coronavirus cases do to otherwise.

The break does come at a good time for the Lilywhites as it gives their injured players time chance to recover and return to action sooner rather than later.

With Moussa Sissoko and Ben Davies returning to full training last week, Son Heung-min is expected back at Hotspur Way this week to continue rehabilitation after surgery in South Korea on his fractured arm.

Harry Kane is continuing to do outdoor ball work as part of his rehabilitation following surgery on the hamstring injury he sustained at Southampton on New Year's Day.

Spurs are down to play Sheffield United on Saturday, April 4 providing that football does return by the start of next month.
