Tottenham lose to Liverpool on heartbreaking late own goal

Soccer is a terribly, terribly cruel sport.

Tottenham fought back against mighty Liverpool in their Premier League match on Sunday, trying the game 1-1 after Firmino had scored early to give Liverpool a lead at Anfield. Lucas Moura scored to make it square in the 70th minute, and it looked for all like Tottenham would hang on for a huge, much needed point.

Then in the dwindling moments of the game, things got nutty. A corner kick was cleared by Tottenham, only to fall to the feet of Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, who already had an assist in the game.

He sent a ball to the back post, which was headed meekly by Mohamed Salah into the hands of Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Then Lloris dropped it. Then the ball bounced off the foot of Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld. And it went into the back of the Tottenham net.

Tottenham fans were left shell shocked by the moment. They had come so close, and it all fell apart.

Look at the reaction:
