Spurs might not currently have a Head Coach in place but that is not stopping new director of football Fabio Paratici from beginning this summer's recruitment process.
Having spent 17 years as a scout and director of football in Italy, it is no surprise that Paratici is looking towards Serie A for a number of transfer signings.
The latest player to be linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is Japanese international Takehiro Tomiyasu of Bologna.
The 22-year-old has been a regular for the Serie A side since his arrival from Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden in 2019, making 63 appearances in two seasons in Italy.
According to The Sun, Spurs have agreed a fee of £15 million for the defender who is reported to be desperate to come to the Premier League.
The versatile Japanese star is equally comfortable at right-back or centre-back and has made 22 appearances for his country.
One issue in a deal for Tomiyasu is his availability at the start of the season after the defender has been named as part of the Japanese Olympic squad to take part in the Tokyo Games from July 21 - August 7.
Tomiyasu is not the only defender Spurs have been linked to with French Euro 2020 squad member Jules Kounde reportedly on their radar for a deal that could cost up to £69m to activate the Seville star's release clause.
Tottenham are also looking to strengthen their attacking options and this may come in the form of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
With Paratici in charge of recruitment, Spurs are keen to bring in their targets ready for the new Head Coach to work with throughout pre-season.
