Tottenham could be set to appoint former AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca after a long search for a new head coach.
Daniel Levy and Spurs have been searching for a new head coach since January when they decided to sack Jose Mourinho just days before the ill-fated Carabao Cup final.
The search looked as though it might come to an end when talks began with former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte, but the Italian went on to snub the north London club over a lack of funds available to summer signings.
There were also talk of a possible Mauricio Pochettino return despite the Argentine only being appointed by PSG in January, but the French club quickly made it clear they would not lose their current boss.
And so the search now looks like it could end with former Roma, FC Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Fonseca, who was the man former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho succeeded in the Italian capital this summer.
Football.london understands that Fonseca is now Tottenham's prime target for the head coach role, while the bookmakers are also fancying the appointment.
Fonseca went from 45/1 to odd-on with many bookmakers in the space of a few minutes when it emerged talks had begun, and football.london understands new director of football Fabio Paratici is central to the idea of hiring the Portuguese boss.
Fonseca was with Roma for around two years, but he walked away from the club after finishing fifth in Serie A this season and guiding the club to the Europa League semi-finals.
The 48-year-old has also spent time with Donetsk, but aside from those two clubs, he has only ever managed Portuguese clubs, including the aforementioned Porto, as well as Braga.
