Tottenham Hotspur are currently in talks to sign Adama Traore but will be forced to sell Steven Bergwijn if the deal goes through.
That is according to Spurs Legend Graham Roberts.
It was reported last week that Spurs had made Wolves an offer to sign the winger on loan with an option to buy for £40million at the end of the season.
That offer was rejected, but Nuno Espirito Santo has not given up on bringing his former star man to north London.
If an agreement was to be reached however, it is more than likely that a current Spurs attacking player would be forced out and Roberts, speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern , believes that player will be Bergwijn.
“Ajax are after him and if they got the right fee for him, I think he would go and Traore would come in there, but we’ll wait and see," he said.
Both players have started the season positively but with deadline day fast approaching, a move for either player looks increasingly unlikely.
Wolves appear unwilling to let one of their best attacking players go and Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy will be seeking an offer upwards of the £27million they paid for Bergwijn in 2020, in order for to move the Dutchman on.
