Tottenham legend David Ginola makes bold Dele Alli transfer claim

Former Tottenham star David Ginola believes Dele Alli may have to leave the club to progress his career.

The England international has been linked with a move away from Spurs this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain said to be interested.

Frenchman Ginola also counts PSG among his old clubs - and would be interested to see Alli take on a fresh challenge there.

The 24-year-old has found his first-team chances limited under Jose Mourinho so far this season, though he did come on as a substitute in Sunday's 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"When he came on in the second half, you could see he was very cautious about not losing the ball and not trying many special things like he is capable of doing on the football pitch," Ginola told Sky Sports.

"Doing that in Paris would be a new challenge for him. I don't see why not.

"We haven't had many English players playing for Paris Saint-Germain in the past, so it would be interesting to see that.

"But you mention for Spurs, Son, Kane, Bale... Dele Alli, if he wants to play there, with these players, he needs to improve his game."

Mourinho has previously insisted that Alli will remain at the club this season, with the summer transfer window closing later today (Monday).

Meanwhile, Ginola hailed Spurs' superb display against United.

After criticising the Red Devils, he added: "I don't want to spoil the great performance from Spurs, because they were amazing, just amazing.

"It was just the difference between a well-balanced team in Spurs and a team that doesn't do the job in Manchester United."
