Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Wednesday, July 29.

End of season ratings

Another season complete, and for Spurs it’s time to reflect on what has been a very strange campaign.

There’s been chaos behind the scenes with the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino and the appointment of Jose Mourinho, injuries galore, inconsistent performances, and in the end a place in Europe that looked unlikely just a matter of weeks ago.

As the dust settles on the season, our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has taken a look each player and rated how they performed during the campaign.

There are no prizes for guessing who comes out on top, with Harry Kane enjoying another stellar season, but how do the rest of Mourinho’s squad fare?

Spurs seal signing of Wigan youngster

Tottenham secured their first signing of the summer transfer window on Tuesday with the addition of Wigan Athletic youngster Alfie Devine.

The 15-year-old central-midfielder has joined the club on a permanent basis and will be part of the club's academy set-up ahead of the start of next season.

The former Liverpool youngster had only just signed a new contract at Wigan, but following their relegation to League One, as a result of entering administration, the youngster has sealed a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

On signing for Spurs, the midfielder, on Instagram, said: "Thanks to all the players and staff and Wigan for the past 3 years. An amazing club with amazing fans, now time for something new and delighted to have signed for @spursofficial."

Bale set to make Madrid pay

Gareth Bale finds himself in the strangest of situations at Real Madrid, and it’s only set to become more complicated.

The former Spurs star has found himself firmly on the periphery of the squad at the Bernabeu, and his relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane looks to be beyond the point of no return.

But according to reports in Spain, the Welshman looks set to stay put in La Liga, despite speculation that he’ll be offloaded this summer.

The sticking point is his wages, and Bale’s gargantuan salary looks set to cost Madrid an eye-watering £60million as he runs down his contract.
