Tottenham lead the way in Premier League for coronavirus testing

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has become the first Premier League ground to be used for coronavirus testing, with equipment installed for drive-through assessments.

The £1 billion multi-purpose venue in north London has been fitted for Covid-19 examinations and swabbing for NHS staff, families and their dependents.

The ground will also house the Women’s Outpatient Services of North Middlesex Hospital, freeing up capacity at the facility to deal with patients suffering from the virus.

Several parts of the stadium, which was offered to the NHS in March, have been transformed for clinical use.

The NFL Away changing rooms will be used as a Maternal Day Unit. The flash interview section as well as the referees’ area are now where consultations and scans are held.

The away team’s quarters will serve as a Midwives Clinical Room and staff admin office. The London Academy of Excellence Tottenham, which is funded by Spurs, used equipment from the Design, Technology and Engineering department to produce protective face shields for the NHS. It is expected that 1000 masks will be produced weekly.
