Tottenham will assess the fitness of Heung-min Son ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off against Newcastle United.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino did not intend to play Son for 90 minutes in Wednesday’s win over Watford, after he returned from the Asian Cup in the UAE.
However, with the Hornets leading 1-0 he stayed on and scored the equaliser in the 80th minute before Fernando Llorente secured a late win with his first league goal of the season.
Son suffered from cramp after the game and Pochettino will exercise caution in deciding if he is fit to start against the Magpies.
Harry Kane remains sidelined with ankle ligament damage and he posted a video of himself on social media on Thursday with the message: "Getting stronger every day. Lots more work to do."
Dele Alli, nursing a hamstring problem, and Ben Davies, a groin concern, are Spurs’ other absentees.
