Tottenham go into this weekend’s Premier League match against Chelsea buoyed by the news that Jan Vertonghen could make his first appearance in almost two months.
The Belgian international has not featured for Spurs since their 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on September 29, having been sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Whether Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to throw him back in the deep end immediately remains to be seen, but with Davinson Sanchez sidelined (hamstring) unavailable, additional options at centre back will be well received.
Elsewhere, Mousa Dembele (ankle) and Kieran Trippier (groin) are also sidelined.
