Tottenham injury news: Mousa Dembele heads back to Spurs after rehab in Qatar

Mousa Dembele is due to return to Tottenham imminently to continue his rehabilitation from an ankle injury after spending two weeks in Qatar at a specialist facility.

The midfielder, 31, suffered ankle ligament damage against Wolves on November 3 and he has been receiving treatment at Aspetar, where team-mate Harry Winks spent time in April to heal a similar problem.

Dembele will now travel back to the UK to continue his recovery at Hotspur Way, with a return date early in the New Year likely.

Dembele said: “Changing the environment is good for both mental and physical health and encourages you to work hard. I am excited to go back and to show that I am really doing well.”

Dembele is out of contract at the end of the season and the Belgium international is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs in other countries in January.

Despite that, he believes Spurs’ future is bright and says the club are building a “stable environment”.

“I think we have all the ingredients to have a positive future,” he said. “We train hard, we have a new stadium opening soon, we have very good players, and we play very positive football. I like what Tottenham is doing by building a stable environment and infrastructure around football and our players.”
