Tottenham injury doubts Moussa Sissoko and Jan Vertonghen train ahead of Champions League semi-final

Moussa Sissoko and Jan Vertonghen have both trained ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League semi-final tie with Ajax.

Vertonghen missed Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to West Ham on Saturday, their first at the new stadium, due to fatigue while Sissoko was forced off with a groin problem during the first half of their quarter-final second leg against Manchester City.

Spurs remain without Harry Kane and Harry Winks, the latter vital to controlling the midfield against sides of Ajax’s ilk, while striker Vincent Janssen, brought back into the fold from the bench in recent Premier League games, is ineligible having not been named in the squad.

Striker Heung-min Son, who has excelled in filling the boots of Kane when required this season and scored decisive goals against Manchester City in the last round, is suspended for the first leg.

Manager Mauricio Pochettnio cited “stress and fatigue” as a factor in the West Ham defeat but, while Spurs battle injury problems as they look to turnaround quickly for the biggest game of the Argentine’s tenure, opponents Ajax had the weekend off after all Eredivisie fixtures were rescheduled to give the Dutch side a helping hand in Europe.
