Tottenham are in talks with Michel Vorm about re-signing the goalkeeper on a free transfer until the end of the season as cover for injured captain Hugo Lloris.

Vorm, 35, has been without a club since being released by Spurs at the end of his contract in June.

He joined Spurs from Swansea in July 2014 and made 47 appearances in all competitions as stand-in for No.1 Lloris.

The 15-cap former Dutch international fell behind Paulo Gazzaniga in the pecking order at the start of last season and will now deputise for the Argentine until at least January, when Lloris is expected to return to training following a dislocated left elbow.

The France international suffered the injury in the recent 3-0 defeat at Brighton. Alfie Whiteman, 21, has been acting as the club's third goalkeeper since Vorm's departure but is yet to make a senior appearance for the club.
