Tottenham 'in advanced talks' with Antonio Conte over managerial position

Tottenham are reportedly in 'advanced talks' with Antonio Conte over becoming their new manager.

Spurs have been without a permanent boss since they sacked Jose Mourinho in April, and with the start of the transfer window looming and a new season just around the corner they are in desperate need to appoint somebody soon.

Recent reports have suggested that they have made their former head coach Mauricio Pochettino their No.1 choice, with the Argentinean allegedly keen to leave Paris Saint-Germain and make a sensational return to north London.

But PSG appear unwilling to let him go, and have triggered a clause in his contract which would keep Pochettino with the Ligue 1 club until 2023.

And news coming from Sky Sport Italy on Wednesday has stated that Spurs are now turning their attentions to Conte, with discussions at an advanced stage.

It is believed that during the meeting Spurs' potential project for the future was discussed, along with Conte's salary demands and contract length.

Would Antonio Conte be a good appointment for Spurs? Comment below.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it is looking increasingly likely that Conte could be the next man in the hotseat unless something dramatic changes in Pochettino's situation.

On paper Conte certainly looks an exciting choice for Spurs, with the 51-year-old having won the Serie A title with Inter Milan last season.

He also tasted success with Chelsea during a two-year spell in England between 2016-18, winning the Premier League in his first season and the FA Cup in his second.

However, Spurs fans may not be too keen on his links to their bitter rivals, and their chairman Daniel Levy will also be well aware that Conte does not tend to stick around long, having only stayed two years in each of his last two clubs.

Conte was also strongly linked with the Real Madrid job before Carlo Ancelotti was appointed the new Los Blancos manager on Tuesday.
